Sea Rock
This review is also available on burrp!
A surprise treat from a colleague landed us here! Though being a multi-cuisine restaurant, I had heard very good reviews on their sea food / mangalore cuisine and the much talked about “neer dosa”. I had decided on neer dosa the moment I gotta know we are going there for lunch. The restaurant is on the 1st and the 2nd floor of the complex. The ambience in the 1st floor is so-so and the food here costs slightly lesser. Heard, the dining hall here, most of the times is filled with men who love to drink. The 2nd floor dining hall is brightly lit and has an ambience apt for family. It has a huge aquarium and good colorful collection of fishes in it. This was a big hit with the kids. They just covered it up and were trying to scare the fish. A small chandelier each for 2 set of tables from the bright red false roof was looking pretty!
For starters, we wanted to try the veg platter, but, we were told, the quantity would be huge and for the 2 of us, it would be as good as lunch. So, we opted for Crispy babycorn. This was tried and tasted. Hence, was recommended by my colleague.
They took their own sweet time to serve this. Almost half an hour or a little more than half an hour I guess!
This was served with some kinda garlic chutney. I had never tasted this combination before and it did impress me.
As decided, we ordered the neer dosa with drumstick curry. Well, it was a finger licking experience though my colleague said, it tasted better on other days compared to what we had. I was completely full with the 2 neer dosas and was gleeful at the end of the meal.
Itseems they also make awesome biryani but, unfortunately, I’ve kept it pending for the next time.
People in South Bangalore who love mangalorean cuisine, could try this out!!

Once upon a time, one of my friends had shown this place to me and said some good things about the food they make as well. Last week, both of us bored to the core, wanting to eat something yummy and delicious, decided to consciously bump into this place.
It’s a small place run by the husband and the wife in the portico of their house. There’s a kitchen area, bill counter, a wash basin in a corner and 7 tables neatly arranged for the customer’s perusal. Each table had 2 kinds of pickle, salt and sugar.
They mainly make different kindsa parantha, the subzis, lassi and meal. The list of paranthas was huge. Alu, gobi, paneer, methi, plain, laccha, ajwain and many more! There was masala and sweet / salt lassi. The dry subzi and gravies are too many to pen. They also had the meal option. Each meal costs Rs.55/- and the paranthas at Rs.12 each and the gravies start from Rs.40/- One could opt for the half plate gravy too.
My friend ordered chapathis with alu gobi and I opted for gobi parantha. Believe me, both tasted great! Later I could not give way to my sweet tooth and had a sweet lassi too. And it made my day :)
Being a pukka south Indian, my friend ordered half plate rice and curd - for many meal isn’t complete without the sumptuous curd rice with piclkle :)
The curd they serve is thick and makes you want more of it.
We were about to finish and a request from another friend made us parcel gobi parantha and alu parantha.
All this together cost us Rs.102/- only! Each bite is worth the money you pay and one would never regret to have gone there.
Please don’t expect a great ambience but a very hygienic food! They serve in steel plates and the service is quick. The waiters and the cook are all women. One would feel, it’s as good as food cooked at home.
Highly recommended for northies who are missing home food and ofcourse for southies who love home made north Indian food!

Bean Here
This review is also available on burrp!
I’ve tried the other 2 restaurants that belong to The Solitaire Hotel and liked it. Specially loved everything @ The Nawab. Wanted to try Bean Here for quite a while now. And my wait was over recently. Accompanied a friend who was going there. As usual I was all excited to try yet another restaurant.
As you enter the lobby, you’d find Bean Here on the right hand side. It’s brightly lit, with circular false roofing, the lamp shade falling from the same giving more of a corporate dining look. The ambience was calm and quiet with light music in the background. The waiters were helpful and courteous.
This restaurant is open 24/7 and serves the buffet anytime. They also have fresh midnight buffet on Saturdays and Sundays.
We checked on the buffet spread and the a la carte menu as well. The buffet seemed to be more interested so, opted for the same. The welcome drink was litchi sharbat and vanilla milkshake. Both were not all that great! Then there was one veg and non-veg soup. We opted for the veg clear soup.
All the above, along with the starter was served on to the table. There was only one starter (veg and non-veg) and that was extremely tasty.
For the main course there was the usual rotis, naan, kulchas etc with dry subzis and gravies. The chef was making fresh kichdi with dollops of ghee and its thoughts is still mouth watering! The salads were around 5 types and each one was better than the other.
There was corn pulav with dal and raita, murgh biryani, mutton sheek kabab, rice and rasam (tamil type), flat noodles and thai gravy. And ofcourse different breads and buns with cheese and butter and other ingredient mix.
Not to miss, there was ofcourse curd rice :)
The dessert had a decent spread. The moong dal halwa though tasted good wasn’t ground well. In addition there was chocolate mousse cake, cheese cake, blue berry and banana pastry, white forest and fruit cake.
The icecreams were nothing special. It was plain vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and pista flavor. I was too full to try it out and the ice cream spread was nothing too special to miss!
Buffet dinner is Rs.249+taxes per head.
For corporate team lunch / dinner, this place seem to be apt

Geoffrey's
This review is also available on burrp!
I went there with a friend recently who’s majorly into pub hopping most of the times. The moment I entered, the expression on my face was so obvious and evident; I fell in love with the place immediately!
A well lit reception area with a beautiful chandelier, leads you towards the lime light (24/7 coffee shop) and to the Geoffrey’s. the lower level has a nice seating. If you wanna stay away from the crowd and prefer the upper deck, please wait till the ground floor completely gets filled. This one has a huge screen and people would gather up to enjoy the sports. Specially during cricket, football and tennis matches.
One of the most hip crowds that you could find in Bangalore would be here! There’s a bartender trying to impress his customers by making different kinds of amazing cocktails and ofcourse he really does impress by his drinks mixing skills :)
Talk about the music – this gets you nostalgic. All the 70’s and 80’s amazing collection of music is played to enthrall you completely.
The food and drinks are expensive but the ambience and the service is what kicks off the mood and I bet, one would enjoy the experience thoroughly! This would definitely get added into the favorite list of mine. Highly recommended.

Oye Shaava
This review is also available on burrp!
I’ve been to Oye Amritsar and loved it to the core. I’d heard this place has similar menu too.
It was quite a while since I relished the authentic Punjabi food. So, my friend and I unanimously decided on Oye Shaava.
Its on the 3rd floor, just below Oye Amritsar. As soon as you enter, the ever smiling courteous lady will receive you and direct you towards your table. The lighting isn’t bright but the music is pretty loud! But, that’s exactly how the Punjabis enjoy the music. With loads of fun and frolic, there’s a separate DJ area. If people dining there want to dance (more possibilities of one could feel – specially if it’s a large group of friends), there’s sufficient space.
It has only low rise tables and chairs. Pretty comfortable and cozy. The drinks available there has weird names. You may not come across this anywhere else. I tried the pepper vodka pani puri. This was different and funny from all the drinks I’ve ever had till date. My friend had the usual Budweiser beer. For the starters, we tried half plate of Dahi Bhalla Khomchewala (they serve all the starters in half / full plates). This had sweet and sour taste and I completely fell in love with it :)
Also, ordered Lassi (served in glass tumbler unlike the large steel tumbler in Oye Amritsar) which was at its best.
Moving on to the main course, we had aloo kulcha and make di roti with aloo wadiyan tariwali. The gravy was too thin and was difficult to eat though it tasted very good!
Meal for two would approximately cost around 700 bucks. For a decent Punjabi food, this is the place to be!

Devi Darshini
This review is also available on burrp!
Its one of those “just another darshini” in Bangalore. If you think so, you could be proved wrong!!
He makes all that the other Darshinis in Bangalore make, but with STYLE! Always crowded and one has to squeeze in to get to the counter, place the order, take the respective token, again squeeze in and head towards the service / parcel counter.
Apart from the regular plain dosa, masala dosa, khali dosa, upma, etc.. this guy makes amazing set masala dosas! Most of you must have heard of masala dosas and set dosas. But, set masala dosa – this is where I came across! My dad has completely fallen in love with the set masalas they make here. Apart from this, the masala vada available is pretty good too. In the evenings at times, he makes mangalore bhajji’s which is soft and crisp.
And who can beat Bangalore darshinis for filter coffee? Yet another that serves the aromatic coffee to have you the flavor last longer.
So, guys head here to overload your stomach with the tastiest Set Masala!!

Not a great fan of Oriental cuisine, my friend and I decided to try this place out after reading the super duper reviews on burrp!
Hopped in there to find the very courteous waiters and the janitor. The dining hall isn’t very big. It was dimly lit and the chairs were red and green in combination. A huge low rise table in front of the entrance. Huge plates with the big cups in it were well arranged as though they serve the oriental thali in that :)
We kicked off our dinner with the wonderful Tequila Sunset Cocktail and Budweiser Pint. Spicy corn soup was the best thing we’d ordered for the chilly evening. The starter – Tod Mun Khao Pod with the sweet sauce also was amazing and I wished I could get more of it. For the main curse we ordered Khao Phad Namprik Pow Vegetable with Pag Phad Bai Gapraow (both suggested by the waiters). The quantity was a little on the higher side and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
I wanted to have the buffet here as its been praised so much and people have gone gaga over it writing rave reviews about the same. But, we realized the buffet is served only for lunch from Monday to Friday. So, guys who wanna try their amazing buffet, go on a weekday
A meal for 2 would approximately cost Rs.1100 incl VAT

The Lemon Grass - Restaurant and Bar
This review is also available on burrp!
My friend and I on an impulsive decision went out for dinner to Lemon Grass. The idea to move little from the city which is less crowded. It’s a garden restaurant and the place is dived for family, couples, smoking and non-smoking zone.
We went to a zone where the crowd was almost nil and hardly any noise. Our intention was only to talk and more talk without much interference. We ordered the usual Smirnoff Vodka and Antiquity Whisky with the dry pepper peas masala (this was good!)
Since my friend loves to eat rice, we ordered a Veg Biryani and Curd Rice! This is not all that freat as well!
I probably would have seen the place and tried appreciating is better if I had gone there in the morning!
Food, service and Ambience – just mediocre. If you want to spend time for long hours or come in a large gang to create some cacophony, then you could try this place

Beautiful Landscape and there ends the appreciation! We went there for a team outing on a Sunday and were completely impressed by the landscape. It was really well designed. As we went in, we saw a small swimming pool and a kid pool. The entire resort has a rustic and ethnic look with lush green lawn with the space for water bodies in between. It probably would have looked better if they’d let the water flow in that small artificial valleys they have made and in the middle, there was the open air theater where one could conduct a few events.
The welcome drink was fresh lime juice. We had that and immediately started searching for some games where we could get ourselves busy. There were some old badminton rackets which was almost broken, cricket bat that had kinda lost its shape. There was a basket ball court but the ball wasn’t available. The badminton court was the same as well (this was outdoor!!!!). We tried playing but could not as it was too windy and too many trees and its branches to catch the shuttle cock.
Since, we had our own games arranged, we definitely had some fun. It was the lunch time, and I was trying to check if there’s something interesting. There was phulkas which was ofcourse soft with bhindi subzi and malai kofta. Both were just OK. Bhindi subzi made at home would be much better. Kofta did not have sufficient salt. The pulav was better though it had half cooked vegetables. The dal and rasam were edible. The chicken tikka and the chiken curry were not great either. The ice-cream tasted weird but the Gulab Jamoon was good. This was the only good thing!
Overall, the meal was just average. After a while of rest, we all got into the small pool which wasn’t clean either :(
Dissatisfied, I got out of it pretty soon and continued with the other games. The complete packages costs Rs.520 per person which I felt wasn’t worth for the kind of food and service provided. They also have cottages for people who want stay for more than a day and relax. That place looked attractive though I could not take a proper look.
Overall, an OK place to go and chill out during a weekend. Its on the 25th mile from the city, 2 kms before Guhantara. One needs to take a right turn after around 4kms once you notice the Main Gate of Art of Living. There are all possibilities you may miss the small board directing you to take the right turn to reach the resort. So, watch out!!!

My friend and I, both tired and hungry wanted to try something new and closeby! I gave the list of all the nearby places and finally opted for this one, as we hadn’t tried this. Its on the 5th floor of this complex, and the security personally comes and drops you off there in the lift.
We found around 5 – 6 people on the way to the dining hall and each of them wished us good evening as though it was a mandatory! We chose the last and the corner most table to get a good view of the dining hall and also the outer view through the glass wall. In the middle of the hall, you would find a circular structure with one larger table and 2 smaller ones to accommodate larger and smaller group respectively.
My friend was too excited looking at the drinks menu. He was giving me gyaan on a few drinks which were available there and not in many of the places he’s been to.
We were served papads and grape juice as a complimentary drink.
My friend ordered for Pina Colada and we had Crispy fried Veg Chilly for the starter. Pina Colada was the usual and the starter was a little sweetish. It wasn’t spicy as the name suggests. Both of us were in mood for eating some rice. We ordered Subzi Dum Biryani. It was oily, but tasted good! They served a good quantity which occupied our stomach more than the capacity!
The total damage was around Rs.450/- incl of tax. The crowd mostly consisted of the business class. I could see many straight from their work. A few of them in their Identity cards as well. And a few others with their firangi clients. I guess we were the only non-official ones :)
They have the restaurant on 5th floor with the glass wall. But, its always covered with the curtain. They probably can take the advantage of this and make it more beautiful. If the lighting / interior is slightly changed, it could look much better

Snack O Cane (SOC)
This review is also available on burrp!
I’ve never tasted the authentic Kolkata Pani Puris so I definitely cant vouch for the one available here. All that I can say is, this place caught may eye while I was taking a stroll in jayanagar recently and they do make tasty pani puris :)
Without any second thought, I just barged in and ordered for Pani Puri. The pani is filled in the container instead in the puris making it floating pani puri.
It tastes heavenly and after that day, I’ve been quite regular here. Also, tried the fresh sugarcane juice (which is my all time favorite). Its just like any other new sugarcane outlets (cane-o-la and real cane sugarcane) with the similar combination of plain, lemon, ginger, chaat masala and pepper.
They also make sandwich which I’ve never tried till date. Looks yummy though!
It’s a small place in the same building as that of glitters near NMKRV College. One has to stand and eat as there’s no space for seating.
I go there to eat the irresistible spicy pani puri and the ginger lemon combination of Sugarcane juice to cool myself up!

Many of my friends suggested me to try this place umpteen number of times giving me rave reviews on the food and the ambience.
An unplanned schedule with a friend took me there. Believe me, I realized, I had missed something for a long time!!
Being not sure of the availability of the table, we just barged in to check if we had some luck. And we really did have some :)
The janitor said with a pleasant smile, “Zaroor Madam, table khaali hai”. I signaled my friend and waited in the waiting area and in the mean while, the janitor spoke to me so much and gave me lots of info on their restaurant and its locations. We went into the dining hall and were directed towards the 1st floor. On our way, I noticed a huge bottle of black dog whisky. I had never seen such a huge bottle in my life before!
We comfortably placed ourselves on the chairs. The interior looks royal and they’ve taken extra care to make the painting on the walls and the roof very beautiful. The chandeliers were pretty and looked expensive. There were many firangis enjoying the Indian meal and licking their fingers!
There were no much choice of veg soup, so we ended up with the alu chaat (I’ll go there exclusively to eat this) and a kebab. The quantity and the size of kabab were so big; our tummies were almost filled with the same. Not completely satisfied, we thought, we should make more justice to our stomachs and ordered missi roti and butter naan with a cottage cheese kofta. Looking at the size of the naan, my friend had almost decided to get the same thing packed but, managed to eat half of the quantity. The kofta had dollops and more dollops of butter in it making me extra conscious for a while. After, tasting, I just continued to gobble it all up without any second thought.
The service was super quick and the ambience was one of the best till date. The total damage for the two of us was around Rs.700+
I definitely recommend this place. Its worth visiting for sure!

Seriously! This is the place to be, when you are feeling low, too thirsty, tired roaming around Jayanagar, when you want something to cool you down, to pep you up and turn your mood on.
I have been quite regular to this place since my childhood days!!! The guy there, most of the times would know what I’d prefer to drink just by looking at my face and the mood I’m in. I love all the juices he blends to make a perfect one for you! Always crowded and one has to squeeze in themselves to go ahead and place the order.
My personal favorite being the mango juice, I cannot have less than 2 glasses :)
For a regular hangout, regular quench for thirst, visiting this place is a must!!

New Sagar Customer Stall

This guy here, bang opposite the Jain Temple in 4th Block makes amazing churmuri, nippattu masala, congress masala, moong dal masala, ompudi masala and many more tangy chaats. The amount of tamarind and chilli / coriander chutney he adds to it is just perfect. People, who have a different taste, could get it customized accordingly!
Total filler during the snack time or any other time when your taste buds crave for something khatta and meetha with lots of other goodies, this is the place you should remember to head towards. Most of the times packed with the devotees of Jain Temple, shoppers from Jayanagar and other college goers closeby!
Looks like, I’ve become a loyal customer to him. Have been re-visiting this place for the past 8 years now and trust me, you’ll never regret eating here.

Swadh Desi
This review is also available on burrp!
I’m in complete consensus with what foodyfoodpecker has to say on Swadh Desi. This brand new restaurant under the “S” Group of Hotel (S stands for Shravanthi Shelters), is a huge building tucked amidst the mini forest area in the small bylane of J P Nagar. Its on the same road as that of ICFAI Business School. A few officials were in white T-Shirt and Blue Jeans. One of those guys received us near the gate and directed us inside.
As we enter, we could notice a huge lobby with reception on the right hand side, waiting lobby on the left and a big earthen pot filled with water and fresh flowers placed on the way. We’d booked a table for two and a young lady, very courteous and pleasing (little more than required – she asked me how was my day and what I did since morning!) directed us towards our table. The tables and chairs were huge and the settee was cushiony and comfortable.
The interior was mughlai type with the color combination of white and off-white. We ordered Kingfisher Beer and Eristoff Vodka (Drinks are expensive here :( ) and Bharwa Shimla Mirch for starter. Each bite of this starter was delicious and left us wanting for more. I’ve tried it in other places but, this one was the best till date.
For the main course, we ordered the Ulte Tawa Paratha (mix of besan and wheat flour and made in tawa instead of tandoor) and Khasta roti (made of rava and was crispy) with Subzi Tawa Masala. They all had new flavors and were delightful! We dint want to overload ourselves. Hence did not order rice. There’s always a next time :)
Now, that I’ve liked it so much, we’ll surely come back.
For the desserts, we ordered Attishi Shirni. It was jalebi stuffed with apple and dipped in sugar syrup and rum with topping for Rabdi :) My craving for sweets kept me craving for more. This one was too tempting to avoid. Meal for two would cost you around Rs.1000/- (inclusive of VAT and service tax). One could head here to savor the Lucknowi, Awadhi and Mughlai cuisine and walk back with complete satisfaction

I heard rave reviews about this place from so many of my near and dear ones and everybody were surprised to know I hadnt tried this place yet!!!
I love the food at MTR, and since people were comparing this place to MTR, I could not wait any longer.
All set to have the meal, my friend and I went there on a rainy evening. The ground floor has sweets and savouries arranged in a neat way that attracts and could make us surely buy something. The completely crowded 1ft floor, had people busily binging on their snacks. Also, you will sight many waiting outside to do the same.
We enquired if we have to give our names and wait in the queue or is there some space. The gentleman asked us if we were there for dinner. Looking at the glee in our eyes, nod and the big smile, he directed us towards 2nd floor. We went there to realise just 3 tables empty. Barged in and occupied one of those as there were many others taking more time to decide which table they should opt for. I probably should have waited, but in these kinnda places, this is what we should do to get and hold on to our tables.
The wait was little long for them to serve us the water and take our order. The second floor is meant for meals only! There are 2 types of meals they serve - for Rs.50 and Rs.100
The difference between the two is, the later has juice, sweet and ice-cream in addition. We opted for the 2nd one.
A huge rectangular plate was placed with cup like partitions in the front. A similar circular plate is used in MTR.
Then the usual vegetable saagu, alu saagu, cabbage subzi and the channa dal usali was served. Then came the papad, vangi bath and raita. I relished it completely. Specially the raita :)
Later, it was the turn of milk peda, rice and rasam, rice and sambhar (both with oodles of ghee) and the rice and curd. Here, rice and curd is served separately unlike the seasoned mixed curd rice in MTR.
A very sumptuous meal and total satisfaction for a south indian palate. If one can somehow manage with the crowd and hold on to the table, nothing can stop you savouring your favourite meal! One would mostly find the family crowd (I found only families. Probably I was the only one with a friend). Thoroughly loved everything and next time, I'd go there during the snack time.. May be try out dosa which's been praised quite a bit

The Lassi Park
This review is also available in burrp!
A friend of mine introduced me to this place and everytime, I went there, I had only kulfi, fruit salad, ice cream and fresh fruit juice. All those mentioned above are pretty good when compared to other places I've tried. But, Falooda is something that I tried recently and was impressed. This has made me eat that everytime I'm hanging around this place. The khus-khus seeds, the semiya, jelly, ice cream in it blends well and takes me to some other world!
You could be wonderring, why I'm not talking about Lassi as they are supposed to be specialising in that. To be frank, the lassis here arent all that great! They do have variety of lassis like sweet lassi, salt lassi, strawberry lassi, mango lassi etc. But, none have impressed me. For lassis try the Sreeraj Lassi Bar in the next road. But, for Kulfi and Ofcourse Falooda, do try it out in this place.. and believe me, you'll try again :)

This is a place for fresh fruit juice and more with difference. I stumpled into this place when I was craving and was wanting to quench my thirst. Started looking at the menu and found they have 2 types.
1. Fresh fruit juice with addition of little water and sugar, 2. Pure fruit juice without addition of water and sugar
Apart from this, they have the usual fruit salad, sandwich and ice-creams. They also make garlic bread with cheese, health drinks like bournvita, ragi malt etc..
They also had llsited a few herbal drinks like, pudina drink, garke juice etc.. none of which are made now as the demand for the same is too less. Its not special than any other place and one could try if they are loafing near the Ganesh Temple

Cafe Arogya

After getting to know about how people here prepare food, I pulled my friend to eat some very healthy food for a change.
It’s a very small place with around 10 tables, the walls brightly painted with green and orange color. On the walls, you will also find some posters and paper cuttings which talks about eating healthy and using olive oil etc..
As we started looking at the menu card, a gentleman came to us and enquired if it was our first time there. And to our nod, he started telling us about the restaurant, the theme, etc. Their focus is healthy and oil free food. They use very less or no oil and the oil used is only olive oil. There’s absolutely no usage of butter, ghee and fresh cream to any of the dishes they cook.
There’s option for meals and a la carte menu. We had vegetable and rice broth soup (few rice grains and vegetables dipped in hot water) and kebab (this was good) for the starters both being not a part of the meal. After this we ordered for 2 meals. The meal for lunch is more exhaustive than the dinner. The dinner consists of 3 phulkas / 2 rotis, 1 subzi, dal, paneer and capsicum gravy, white rice, vegetable rice (hardly any vegetable in this) and a cup of curd. There was very little oil in all these and almost salt less.
The salads they have is full of sprouts, tofu, greens and loads of vegetables. People who are major health freaks and avoid all the oily, masala and salty stuffs, this is the place to be. For somebody like me, it’s a place to visit once in life time!
A meal would cost Rs.100 and Rs.80 for lunch and dinner respectively!

I dont know how many times I've been to this place with friends, colleagues and relatives and every time, I fall in love with this place all over again!
Its on 5th floor and feels as though you are entering a cave the moment you step out the lift.
The janitor and the waitors dressed in the Shikhari Shambu costume welcome you with their pleasant smile! One of the kids with us actually got scared with one of their's mustache :P
The cavy wall is covered with creeper kinda stuff with the effect of some snake, owl et all over in addition to the creepy and freaky sounds once in a while.
The uneven wooden tables with comfy chairs are arranged not in a very organised way to give the unusual look.
The menu is extensive with the afgan cuisine. I've loved all that I've tasted here and a few hard core non-veggie friends of mine get into the eating groove and somebody will actually have to remind them that they need to stop at one point in time and gotta head back home.
One would be so enthralled to see the presentation of a few of the orders!!! The sparkler cracker is brought along :) I've noticed a few kids order the same thing again and again just coz' they get the sparkler along!
More than the food, the ambience, the presentation and the service takes away all the points. Ofcourse the food is really good and highly appreciated. Highly recommended to experience all that I've mentioned.... not once, but many a times :)
FYI: Please make reservations before you head there. Else, you end up waiting for a long time!

Cafe Masala
The Big Bang Effect
This review is also available on burrp!
After reading so many good things about the buffet at Café Masala on burrp! I had no choice but to try this out :)
I went there with a few of my colleagues for dinner and you bet I was completely bowled over at their big bang buffet spread!
In total agreement with ashwinsid’s review, I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it specially the starters and the dessert.
A few of my colleagues who had come here before, after the starters, headed straight to the dessert section coz’ they dint want to have lesser space in their stomach for desserts by eating the main course.
I made sure I tasted everything though I had to eat all little less. But, this resulted in me not having enough of all that I wanted. They had a spread of amazing salads and starters. The starters were grilled live on the table (little Barbeque Nation effect) and was served. The rotis were soft and mushy, the gravies were tangy and super. Navathna Kurma was one of the best I’ve had till date. It was just so amazing; I was relishing and talking about it for quite a while.
I wanna talk more about the desserts. “Umm” - that was all we were saying in between the hogging session. I have no words to describe the spread of desserts they had. I gave up my dieting completely for that night and relished eat bit of the desserts. The chocolate truffle, the jalebi, marsh mellow, butterscotch pastry, walnut brownie, jamoon, rosagulla, rabdi – I literally stuffed myself with it coz it was so good to taste!
I got too busy and was so engrossed in eating, I dint pay much attention to anything else there. For dinner, its 399+tax which came upto Rs.450 per head.
Completely overwhelmed, after the experience here, I’ve never been satisfied with any other buffet. Don’t know if its wrong to compare, but, unconsciously I do!
This I call – The Big Bang Effect!!
I’d surely go there again soon with an empty stomach :)

This one being located in the bustling 4th T Block, the lane opposite to Saibaba Temple, is always crowded mostly by the old couple and other bachelors living alone.
They hygienically cook south Indian and a few north Indian dishes. All these are made fresh and they also take orders. I have tried idli, chutney, sambhar, rice, rasam, chapathi and various subzis, rotis, puliyogare etc and have found each of those very good one cant eat the food there. There’s no space for one to eat the food there and this is exclusively for take aways.
Apart from those mentioned above, they also sell fried items such as potato chips, banana chips, chakli, kodbale, chikki, pickles, chutney powder, vangibath powder, puliyogare gojju, rasam powder and sambhar powder etc.
The food is sold on kilogram basis and if you need very little for yourself, you could place order in grams. Few of my colleagues are regular visitors to this place and enjoy the food thoroughly. I would say, this is an one stop shop for all your food solution.

There used to be a time when me and my classmates used to come on this deserted road on a long drive to the dhabas, enjoy the greenary, the peace and return back.
Now I cant even compare it to what it used to be once upon a time. The road is toooooo crowded leaving no space for peace and there are darshinis and restaurants that have replaced dhabas, IT Companies and others standing tall changing the entire scene of what it used to be!
This time, it was the turn with family memebers. Dad, mom and me went straight into Sri Krishna Sagar for lunch after a tiring long drive. It took us 5 minutes to get onto our table.
This place was too crowded, many people trying to catch hold of some table soon and we had to follow the suit. Dad, as always ordered for 3 south indian thalis and it was served to us in no time.
The thali consisted of 4 pooris, 1 dry subzi, gravy, white rice, rasam, sambhar, curd, papad, pickle and a sweet.
Cost per soouth indian meal is Rs.30/- which is a great deal.Over all, the service and the food was ok but for the crowd!
One can visit once if they are on this highway and are very hungry, you could try this out.
They also serve north indian and chinese food but I'm not sure how authentic it could be.

Whenever I’ve passed by this restaurant, I always thought this would be my next destination in my culinary journey! I was waiting for my professional friend and in the mean while I took a look at the interiors and the lighting of the restaurant. They’ve used dark mahogany wood for the furniture and the heavy door with off-white colored paint on the wall to contrast the same. The hall was dim lit and got completely filled by 8PM. I never knew this place gets so crowded so soon!
Almost 2 years have gone by since we met and I was so delighted to receive my friend! He wanted to order flavored vodka but none were available. He checked for scotch and that was out of stock too. Finally, the gentleman ended with whiskey and CPC (Cherry, Pineapple and Cheese).
He relished that combination through out the meal.
We ordered hot and sour soup which was decent enough and met our expectations. We decided not have a very heavy meal so, ordered peas pulav. The quantity was huge and more than sufficient for the 2 of us.
The booze here is pretty cheap compared to other bar and restaurants. A meal for two with drinks would cost around Rs.600/- The crowd mainly consisted of corporate and a very few collegiate. I’ve heard the buffet lunch here is amazing! May be next time, I should try it out myself and looks it that day isn’t very far :)

I stumbled upon this brand new restaurant a few days back. It attracted my attention with its different looks. This is what made me decide I should try it out soon :)
So, I was there for the Sunday dinner. This is in the same building as that of the Bose showroom.
The stairs you take to reach the restaurant on the first floor is unconventional. So, please take care and put your foot right to avoid the fall.
I was there without booking the table prior. Fortunately, we got the table. The moment I entered, I felt I’m in a palace!!!
It was so beautifully decorated with heera and panna color all over with the combination of pink silk cloth. I could never imagine I’ll get to see a place like this on a bustling church street. The waiters were all decked up in heavy costume, reflecting the senapathis of Rajas and Maharajas of India. The turban was decorated with pearls (ofcourse artificial) and their necks were hanging of huge chains.
Each table was lit from inside to give a beautiful shade to a kind of rangoli made on it and covered with the subtle pink silk cloth. Also, all the tables had a huge candle stand made of glass (I’ve seen it only in the movies) with a small candle burning in it giving an amazing effect to your dinner. The roof had a beautiful flowery decoration painted which i was frequently looking at.
I noticed a few customers loved to wear the turban and the gown. The waiters were helping them to wear the same!
The very courteous waiters spoke to us of their new restaurant which opened 4 days back and handed over the menu card to us. We ordered a mocktail (chocolate and butterscotch based) and sweet lime soda. For starters we tried veg gulauti kabab. This reminded me of what I had eaten at sikandar long back and the one served here was far better than that though the quantity here was too less.
For the main course, I opted for the afgan roti and my friend had gobi parantha with veg kadai. Both the roti and the parantha were soft and delicious and the veg kadai left us wanting for more. It was too tasty and the quantity was lesser. Since the quantity of the food they served was slightly lesser, there was still space in my tummy. We tried the channa pais which I assumed would be different from the usual sweets but unfortunately, it was just like Ras Malai but smaller in size. I was not too happy with this one and this alone cost us 165 bucks!!!
The best part about this entire experience is when it comes to writing the feedback. They give you the feedback form on a wooden stand decorated with some kinda crystals on it, a green colored ink bottle with a feather with nib at the end of it. This was the first time I used this to write and was all excited about it :)
They also have a dining hall on the next floor which is more formal with white cushion seats and was elegant in its own way.
A meal for two would cost approximately around Rs.750/-
A must try for the delicious food and the great ambience… More importantly, for the theme and the experience.

My friend and I after a tiring match were hunting for some good eat outs around and found this one. Entered to surprisingly find only us!! The place looked slightly shady without any room for fresh air. We quickly ordered a paneer starter, missi roti, kulcha, roomali roti and Viking special veg along with it.
Paneer was very soft and after a long time, I had eaten something like this. Missi roti had some grains of sugar on it, kulcha and roomali roti were the usual. The Viking special veg gravy was spicier.
We were so hungry and tired, never realized how we hogged the food so fast. My friend prefers only warm water and the waiters had to be reminded umpteen number of times to get it and they ended up getting it when we were paying the bill, and again after a reminder!
It’s an ok place to opt for, if you don’t have any other choice

With a dear one's recommendation on a must try thali and the biryani here, my friend and I headed straight here without any second thought. The decor and the interiors are somethings that could be compared to nandhini and other andhra cuisine restaurants.
We opted for the A/C room where the A/C effect was very less. As per our prior decision, we ordered thali and biryani and crispy veg babycorn. Crispy baby corn was the usual. The thali was amazing!
They serve 2 chapathis with the spicy pappu (dal), veg subzi and spicy red chutney. The pappu I tasted was the best till date. Then it was the rice with sambhar, rasam and curd. Sambhar was spicier and left me craving for more. The spicy curd served was tangy!! The payasam was ok. I ended my meal with the curd rice with the mouth watering pickle. It made y day :)
The biryani was so aromatic, the moment its placed on the table, you would feel the aromas of spices filling your face completely and make you dig into it immediately. Hmmm awesome is the word!!
The only problem I had here was with the water they serve. It was smelling of oil the tumbler wasnt washed well. So, we opted for the mineral water. I could also notice lizards on the wall that dint make me feel comfortable.
For a south indian whose staple food is rice and loves the spicy andhra thali and biryani with some adjustments with the water and lizards on wall, this is the place one should never miss.

I’ve been goin’ to this place for 3 years now and fallen in love with the food everytime!
Generally, this place is too crowded and one has to book the table and wait in front of the restaurant. They also expect you to place the order right there so that the food is served without delay when you occupy the table. The interiors are decorated with colorful clothes with mirror work. There are 2 kinds of tables. The special ones are low rise tables with low rise chairs with cushions. Though I prefer this one, it depends on the crowd and the number of whom I go with.
I love the jal jeera and aam shikhanji here. One of the best I have ever tasted. The cutlery used is all made of heavy metal and are copper plated. They claim, the vegetables and the ingredients used here are carefully handpicked and are taken utmost care while cooking!
Well, well.. the quantity served is apt and the food tastes yummy! I have tasted almost everything here and each of those is finger licking!!
One negative point here is, the waiters are in such a hurry, looks like they just want to serve and shoo you away asap so that they could accommodate more customers. Once, one of my uncles hadn’t finished eating, the waiter did not even bother to check if he could clear it up but just picked the plate to clear the table.
This could be a better place if the hurrying up in the service reduces to some extent.

I have been to the RR on church street and love the Biryani and the andhra thali there.
RRR, though looked similar from outside, i did enquire with the staff there if it belongs to the same group. They said yes and added an extra R to this and handed over the menu card.
Since, its been quite a while I went to RR, I wanted to take the thali and my friend ordered the Biryani, his alltime favourite.
The meal was absolutely spicy with the hot rasam, sambhar, pulusu, chatni pudi etc.. The food tasted the same, but the ambience in the church street branch is better anyday. Even the service here wasnt all that great though it was quick. The waiters werent as courteous as the ones you find in RR. Since, I was too hungry and was concerned only about the food, I relished it thouroughly!!

This place hidden amidst the subhiksha mall in 3rd block, which I did not sight for quite a while!
Most of the times filled with the college goers and the middle aged, this place serves the good south indian breakfast, chaats and fresh fruit juice.
The compound of the building accomodates 4 tables made of black granite stone with 2 plastic chairs on either side and a big slab of granite on the other side which could accomodate 2 / 3 people at a time.
I have been to this place around 3 times now, its never been disappointing. The upma and the masala dosa tastes great for breakfast, the snacky time chaat was good and the fresh fruit juices are ok.
One of the favorite adda for namma Bengaluru collegers to hang out and create cacophony!!!

Having read about the theme – The Poolside Brunch, my friend and I decided to binge there on Sunday. We had made our prior bookings as always and arrived a little late. Thanks to the non-stop Bangalore showers.
We headed straight to the 7th floor, just to realize how beautiful the race course looks. We could view the entire race course and this was the first time, I gotta see it this way!! Just amazing! The dining hall has the glass wall and we sat tight next to it to enjoy the beauty of Bangalore from the 7th Floor.
I was too delighted to experience their theme. We went around and checked whats there on the buffet menu, the games, the pool, the live music, caricature, face painting and astrology (where the parrot picks the card to tell you about the fortune).
We just settled in our respective table, and we were immediately approached to ask us on what we’d like to have for the drinks. They had a choice of unlimited Beer and inhouse Wine.
We opted for wine, and it tasted like the port wine. A few minutes later, we were also served 2 kinds of starters – babycorn with red and yellow peppers and the other one was mixture of many vegetables in an onion and tomato based gravy.
In between the meal, I went and got the scorpion painted on my back, played the shooting game, in which I failed undoubtedly and managed to somehow hook the bottle in the other game. The spread of salad was good enough to satisfy our palate. The main course had multiple types of rice and the gravy mix, the appam with the vegetable stew and there was white rice with the dal makhni and yellow dal. Since, it was brunch, there was an option to have the different kinds of corn flakes with cold milk, pista milkshake and strawberry milkshake (they call this kesar kalakand). Ofcourse there were buns, breads and the croissants.
Before we headed for the dessert, gave pose for the caricature and tried our luck with the parrot astrology :)
The dessert comprised of the white forest and black forest, tiramisu, chocolate pyramid, doodh peda, 2 types of Bengali sweets, jamoon and many others the names of which I’m unable to recollect. They did not have the icecream, but when asked, they immediately got 2 big scoops of vanilla icecream.
After the heavy brunch, I got the Arabic style mehendi applied on my hand. Definitely never wanted to miss on this one!!
The brunch costs Rs.650 + tax per person which I feel was worth the experience.
The experience was quite different to me till date. Kids were the happiest running all over and getting painted everywhere possible. Truly, for a weekend outing where one wants to spend time, 7th Heaven is the place to be.
